How a 500kW/1.5MWh Containerized C&I BESS Helps a European Metal Plant Cut Electricity Costs by 20%

October 2025 — Enershare has delivered and commissioned a 500kW / 1.5MWh containerized commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage system (BESS) for a metal processing plant in Europe. The system is grid-connected and operates in combination with the customer’s existing photovoltaic (PV) system, supporting peak shaving, load shifting, and improved on-site solar energy utilization.

Key project facts

  • Project type: Commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage
  • System capacity: 500kW / 1.5MWh
  • Commissioning date: October 2025
  • Location: Europe
  • Primary applications: Peak shaving, load shifting, PV self-consumption

Project Background: Coping with Rising Electricity Prices

The project was delivered to a medium-sized metal processing plant with high electricity demand and extreme susceptibility to electricity price fluctuations . Although the plant had previously deployed an on-site photovoltaic power generation system, its power generation mode did not perfectly match its production schedule. Therefore, during peak hours, a significant portion of its electricity consumption still relied on the grid.

Solution: System Configuration and Integration

The project includes a containerized EnerBank unit that integrates:

  • 500 kW Power Conversion System (PCS)
  • 5 MWh lithium-ion battery
  • Integrated Energy Management System (EMS)

The system is pre-assembled and factory-tested, enabling a plug-and-play installation process and reducing on-site commissioning time. It is integrated with existing photovoltaic systems and supports automatic peak shaving and load shifting strategies. Remote monitoring is provided through the built-in EMS platform, enabling real-time system visualization and unattended operation.

Project outcomes: tangible economic and operational benefits

Since its deployment, the battery system has delivered significant operational benefits. EnerShare anticipates that the project will:

  • By utilizing peak-valley arbitrage, annual electricity costs can be reduced by approximately 15-20%.
  • Increase the self-consumption rate of photovoltaic power to over 80%.
  • Improve the overall energy resilience and operational stability of the site

Since its grid connection, the system has been operating stably, and its performance has been continuously monitored through an energy management platform.

This project further demonstrates EnerShare’s ability to provide reliable, scalable, and customized industrial and commercial energy storage solutions for European manufacturers.
